I hear so much slander towards America from tumblr users everyday.  Americans are stupid, gullible, ignorant, have shit government, are insane Christians, etc.  To tell you the truth, I’m getting really tired of it.  I wonder how I’d feel about it if I weren’t American.  I hate hearing people talk that way about other races, sexualities, classes, and so on.  And many of the people saying such rude things about America also preach against racism and homophobia, but I don’t understand why it’s acceptable to judge someone based on where they were born and raised.  And the thing is, I don’t define myself by my birthplace.  I want to be known not for my nationality but for my personality, opinions, cleverness, and my drive to understand and help others.  And I think anyone who cares more about my American passport is pathetic.
